EXERCISES CLASSES AT THE WHARFEDALE HOSPITAL
TIMING and LOCATION
Our exercise sessions are held at 6pm and 7.20pm on Mondays and Thursdays in the Physiotherapy gym at the Wharfedale Hospital, Otley. Classes last about one and a quarter hours. Select LOCATION from the menu above for more information on how to find us and see our News page for any changes to exercise classes.
EXERCISES
Each of our gym exercise classes is held under the supervision of a qualified instructor. All equipment is provided including professional-standard exercise machines, such as a treadmill, exercise bikes, cross-trainers and a rowing machine.
Training shoes and clothes which allow easy movement are all that is required. Each member is free to exercise to his or her own level under the guidance of the instructor. Exercise sessions are not competitive and typically comprise:
* A set of group warm up exercises led by the instructor lasting 10 to 15 minutes;
* A circuit of exercises, lasting 30 to 40 minutes, specially designed to improve fitness, strength, stamina and suppleness;
* A short set of group exercises lasting 5 to 10 minutes led by the instructor to ensure proper cool down.
COST
Attendance at our exercise classes costs £5 per person per class. Payment is taken by contactless payment before the start of the exercise class. We do not take cash.
INFECTION CONTROL
Following Covid-19, our exercise classes are run under infection control arrangements agreed with the hospital management. This includes limiting numbers by a booking system. Members receive an email two days before each class (on Tuesdays for Thursday classes and on Saturday for Monday classes). The email announces that booking is open. Places are allocated in strict order of receipt of requests. The email always includes the latest information on infection control applicable to our classes.
EXERCISE VIDEOS
We have several exercise videos available free for members to use on YouTube. Please see the Members page for details.
